MY RATING:

A piece of film or literature that was wonderfully crafted. Loved it to bits and will probably re-watch/re-read multiple times in the future. An instant favourite.

A very well-made and highly pleasurable, above-average viewing or reading experience that I will probably re-watch or re-read in the future.

Liked it well enough, as it was an average book or film that was nothing stupendous but decent entertainment.

An "okay" film or book with possibly some redeeming features, like a performance/character, story idea, or interesting stylistic element, that likely saved it from being completely worthless. Mostly just mediocre and forgettable fare.

Hated it. A viewing or reading experience with almost no redeeming features that felt like torture and a complete waste of time and money.

Both lists will only include films/books that I have seen/read for the first time.

Unsurprisingly, yours looks the prettiest of any of the 2011 books/movies posts appearing on my flist. :D Good luck! Have fun!

EDIT: Damn, I really need to work out a way to separate my personal rating from a critical one, because they're so often different. >____>

Haha, thank you! I decided to do two ratings systems this year because so often I'd be conflicted over what to rate something because my subjective and objective evaluations would not match up.

I'm doing this, too! But in two different posts... XD Guess it might be cleaner to put them all into one!

*Take Shelter high five*

*Hugo high five*

Although a lot can change in 18 days, you've only seen one five-star film so far in 2011. ONE!

I think I'm just really hesitant to give a film five stars. Those two films you mentioned probably came the closest. I just have yet to see a film this year that made me go, OMG I NEED TO WATCH YOU A MILLION TIMES LET ME LOVE YOU.
